Dali

One of my coworkers had described Lijiang as 'tourist touristy' and Dali as 'backpacker touristy'. I wasn't sure what to make of what she said, but now I know it is definitely true. Dali is a very laid back town where the people are more concerned with relaxing than selling trinkets. The old town is well preserved with its many classical buildings well maintained.

The streets of Dali are much wider than the alleys of Lijiang

Dali also has many canals, but not as many as Lijiang

In the morning the streets of Dali are quite as the locals sleep in late

The main street of Dali gets quite busy with afternoon shoppers

Many of the exterior walls of Dali buildings have beautiful paintings

My favorite hostel in Yunnan was the one we stayed at in Dali
