On our flight from Kunming to Singapore we had a 20 hour layover in Haikou, which was plenty of time to explore the city. Haikou is the capital of Hainan province, China's Hawaii. It is the southern most province in China and the only island province (other than Taiwan, of course).

| At night we had the pleasure of having a traditional Hainan dish: Ice cream salad. Corn, peas, watermellon, beans, taro, macaroni, coconut, peanuts, and a giant scoop of icecream on top. |
